Kwa mara nyingine tena nasema: “Simama, Kanisa barani Afrika ... kwa sababu unaitwa na Baba wa mbinguni, ambaye wahenga wenu walimtambua kama Muumba hata kabla ya kujua ukaribu wake wa kihuruma uliofunuliwa katika Mwanae wa pekee, Yesu Kristo.
Once more I say: “Get up, Church in Africa... because you are being called by the heavenly Father, whom your ancestors invoked as Creator even before knowing his merciful closeness revealed in his only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Wahenga walisema, “Penye nia pana njia.”
The old adage is true, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Kwa kutilia mkazo uhusiano na wahenga,
na aina ya ushenga kati ya mtu na Uwepo wa kimungu (Immanence), dini
hizi ni rutuba nzuri ya kiutamaduni na kiroho ambamo kutoka humo
Wakristo walio wengi huongoka na ambayo wanaendelea kuwa na mahusiano ya
kila siku nayo.
With their reference to ancestors
and to a form of mediation between man and Immanence, these religions
are the cultural and spiritual soil from which most Christian converts
spring and with which they continue to have daily contact.
Katika mtazamo wa Kiafrika wa ulimwengu, uhai, au maisha, unatazamwa kama kitu kinachokumbatia na kujumuisha wahenga,
wazima wanaoishi sasa na wale watakaozaliwa, uumbaji wote na viumbe
vyote: vinavyoongea na visivyoongea, vinavyofikiri na visivyofikiri.
In the African worldview, life is perceived as something that embraces and includes ancestors,
the living and those yet to be born, the whole of creation and all
beings: those that speak and those that are mute, those that think and
those lacking thought.
